Q: What is the purpose of the Combine?
A: The standard state mandated physical examination that athletes are required to undergo prior to participating in their sport does not typically include a functional assessment of joints, muscles, and movement patterns.  The Combine is designed to protect the physical health of the athlete by filling that void and screening these components for pre-disposition to injury.  If, for instance, the athlete has a weakness within their left knee, identifying this early and allowing the athlete to rehabilitate that joint before intense activity will decrease the likelihood of injury and maximize performance.
Q: How does this help athletes be more competitive?
A: The performance assessment conducted by The Sports Combine focuses on the competitive nature of an athlete’s sport.  By testing those functions (power, speed, stamina, agility, endurance, etc.) necessary for a specific sport, each individual athlete’s strengths and weaknesses can be identified.  Once identified, specific training programs can be designed and implemented to target areas where improvement is needed.  Improvement can be measured by participating in subsequent Combines, as can the effectiveness of any specific training programs.  By employing this method of test, train, repeat, we feel the athlete can gain a significant competitive edge.
Q: How much does the Combine Cost?
A: The cost of the first combine is $99.00 and subsequent combines is $59.00
Q: Who should participate in the Combine?
A: The Combine is open to any amateur athlete ages 8 and older.   It is designed to be a tool for both the individual athlete looking to improve his or her abilities as well as for the travel sports organization or school team wanting to improve as a whole.

Q: Is the Combine too much work for a young athlete?
A: No.  Even though the Combine is a challenging series of tests designed to measure an athlete’s abilities, it is also intended to be a positive, encouraging and fun experience.  Our goal is for the athlete to use their assessment as a guide for improvement and determine their athletic future from a position of knowledge and strength.
